About
This blog is about how to use options to manage stock portfolios. We’ll discuss ways to hedge, reduce risk and produce income. You won’t find any “get rich quick” ideas here, just serious strategies for serious investors written by Ken Roberts. I manage a covered call portfolio designed for low volatility and monthly income. I also implement option strategies for stock investors such as protective puts, custom collars, covered calls and a stock repair strategy. I have been in the securities business for over 20 years and has worked as a stock, options and futures broker as well as a branch manager for a major Wall St. firm. I have received advanced options certifications from the New York Institute of Finance and am a CMT Level II candidate and have had personal options tutoring from Larry McMillan. I have earned NASD series 3,6,7,9,10,56 and 63 registrations.
I have read countless books on option trading, followed several newsletters and studied many different software programs. More importantly I have been trading options daily for over fifteen years.
The path to profitability was not easy. I’ve personally been through the hard knocks that most options traders experience and I have learned from them. I’ve read the false hype and claims of spectacular returns from the so-called option gurus that plague the internet. I’ve learned a lot of my lessons the hard way. In 2000, I took a small, speculative trading account up 143% in just over three months, and then proceeded to lose all of it when the dot com bubble burst.
What I have learned and learned very well, is that options can be used to manage stock portfolios and produce good returns while lowering risk. I have been successful with options for many years now and generated consistent profitable returns. I can help people learn how to use options and not go through the tough, hard knocks learning process that I did.
